Water based woodenware coatings for Children’s room decorating for comments

On 20 July 2015, GB-T Standard (non-mandatory) Water based woodenware coatings for Children’s room decorating was drafted by National Technical Committee 5 on Paints & Pigments of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC5) for comments. The consultation period begins from now and ends on 25 August 2015.
 
The standard sets forth definition, classification, technique requirements, testing methods, detailed rules for testing, packaging identifications and other contents of Water based woodenware coatings for Children’s room decorating. The technique requirements include performance indicators such as fineness, non-volatile substances, rubbing property, as well as limits on hazardous substances such as VOC, formaldehyde, heavy metals and phthalates.

Note 1: Coatings comprising of two or more constituents shall be measured in a mixture according to stipulation for product preparation (Water is not considered as a constituent and dilution is left out of consideration). Note 2: Soluble heavy metals of powdery putty shall be tested by the powder directly, while other items shall be measured after mixing powder and water or other liquid like adhesive according to the designated preparation of the products. For example, to make a preparation within a certain degree, test water as per the smallest usage for preparation after mixing and the liquid according to the largest one.

 
The standard applies to water based woodenware coatings (dry under normal temperatures) comprising of one or two constituents for Children’s room decorating, whose primary application is for decoration and protection of the surfaces of children’s room decoration and wooden furniture.
