Weihai Authority destroys 700 small home appliances imported from South Korea

On 24 July 2015, Shandong Weihai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau found the migration nickel exceed the limit during the inspection of 700 Korean small home appliances (valued at USD 39,720) such as multifunctional blender and mini juicer that came into contact with food. The Weihai authority destroyed the failing products.

Nickel is indispensable element for humans but the need is minor, exceeding which human health will be harmed. According to animal test and observation, it proves that nickel is accumulative, mostly in kidney, spleen and liver, which leads to damage to liver and cardiopulmonary functions. What’s worse, lung cancer and other severe diseases may be induced.
According requirements of GB 9684-2011, the amount of nickel shall not exceed 0.1mg/dm².

Reminder: Imported products can clear the customs only when relevant requirements for the targeted country or region are met. Businesses shall send their products for testing in strict accordance with stipulations to avoid economic losses.
