ECHA has launched public consultations on harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposals for two pesticides and an industrial chemical. Proposals for the pesticides, bifenazate and triflusulfuron-methyl, have been submitted by the Dutch competent authority and France, respectively. Neither have any harmonised classification at present.

Health and environmental classifications are proposed for bifenazate, which is used as an acaricide on crops and ornamentals. The proposal for triflusulfuron-methyl, a herbicide used in agriculture, is for carcinogenicity and hazards to the environment.

Meanwhile, Germany is seeking to remove the existing classification for industrial chemical, Direct Blue FC 57087, which is used in ink, toners and as a textile dye. The existing classification is for acute toxicity and specific target organ toxicity-single exposure. The German authority contends that the methanol content in the substance is not at a level that requires harmonised classification.

The consultations will end on 10 May 2013.
