In 2018, in order to speed up the improvement of environmental air quality, State Council proposed the "three-year action plan to fight air pollution".

On May 15th, 2020, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "2020 Volatile Organic Compounds Governance Plan (Draft for Comments)", which clearly stated that from July 1st, 2020, the production, sales and use of ship coatings and floor coatings should meet the newly promulgated and implemented national product harmful substance limit standards, architectural coatings and adhesive products in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region must meet the requirements of the "Volatile Organic Compound Content Limit Standard for architectural coatings and Adhesives".

Summary of the new standard

In March 2020, the National Standardization Administration announced the approval and release of the "Limit of harmful substances of woodenware coatings" and other volatile organic compounds (VOC) and other harmful substances limit requirements, as follows:

Relevant enterprises should ensure that products meet the relevant national standards after the implementation time. At present, local or regional laws, regulations and rules have been issued in accordance with the "Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law" and "Winning the battle against air pollution". Traditional high-risk and high-polluting products must be upgraded and modified to meet the requirements of green production.
