[RASFF]Overview of RASFF FCM notifications in February 2016

The European Commission validated 225 RASFF notifications this month, including 203 notifications on food, accounting for 90.22%; 15 notifications on feed, accounting for 6.67%; 7 notifications on food contact materials (FCMs), accounting for 3.11%

The major hazards for the 7 notifications on FCMs are migration of hazardous substances such as formaldehyde, melamine, chromium, manganese, cadmium, manganese, aluminum epoxidised soybean Oil (ESBO). One notification is validated due to the breakage of packaging.
 
From the products validated in February 2016, more than half food contact materials originated from China (4 notifications, accounting for 57.14%).  

 
The notifications are classified as border rejection, alert, information for follow-up or attention according to the risk levels.
