Taiwan implemented the new mandatory act for textiles

In Aug. 8, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection of Taiwan district (BMSI) released a report of the jackets marketed by checking their content of specific hazardous elements or materials according to the request of CNS 15290: general safety technical code for textile products.

 

A total of 25 jacket samples were tested according to the request of CNS 15290. None of the samples failed test for free formaldehyde or organic tin.

 

BSMI has set the mandatory inspection for all textiles manufactured, marketed in Taiwan or exported to Taiwan from 1st, January, 2012. Complying with CNS 15290 is one of the mandatory request as well as tag and other inspection marks.

 

CNS 15290 apply to these products:
1. Baby textile products;
2. Textile products in direct contact with skin;
3 .Textile products in indirect contact with skn;
4. Indoor decoration textile materails.


The requirements for quality refer to below:
●Free formaldehyde: should comply with the standard of CNS 14940 .
●Azo colorants should not exceed 30ppm.
●Cadmium is not allowed in textile accessories.
●Lead content in surface coationg materails of textile products
●Physical safety requirements: comply with CNS 15291:2009“safety of children's clothing-cords and drawstrings on children's clothing-specifications”.
●The organotin should not be detected.
