OEHHA intends to add cancer listing of 1-bromopropane on Propo 65

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) intends to list1-bromopropane as known to the state to cause cancer.
 
Substance CAS No. Endpoint Reference Occurrence and Uses
1-Bromopropane  106-94-5 Cancer NTP (2014) Used as a solvent cleaner in vapor and immersion degreasing operations for cleaning metals, plastics, and electronic and optical components. Also used in dry cleaning, asphalt production, and solvent and adhesive sprays. Has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, insecticides, quaternary ammonium compounds, flavors and fragrances.
 
 
The substance is listed on Prop 65 as a reproductive toxicant in 2004. The proposal intends to list its carcinogenicity. The public comment period for its cancer listing will end on 10 August.
 
In addition, OEHHA asks for public comments for maximum allowable dose levels (MADLs) of atrazine, propazine, simazine, 2,3-diamino-6-chloro-s-triazine (DACT), des-ethyl atrazine (DEA) and des-isopropyl atrazine (DIA) until on 1 October 2015.
