Chinese framework for food-related standards declares conclusion

The 8th session of Food-related Sub-commission under National Standard for Food Safety Review Commission (“Sub-commission”) was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province from 17 to 18 November 2015. On the conference, the Sub-commission completed the review of 56 standards of food-related standards, which concluded the task of standard harmonisation and improved the framework for food-related standards in China.
 
National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China has consulted for public consultation concerning with more than 200 national standards and their drafts on food safety in China since August. Currently, all public consultations ended with the publication of more than 100 national standards on food safety such as GB 31604.1-2015 General rules for migration test of food contact materials and products.
 
On the last session of the conference, the Sub-commission passed National standard for food safety—plastic resin that contacts with food, National standard for food safety—plastics and plastic products that contact with food, National standard for food safety—paper, paper boards and paper products that contact with food, National standard for food safety—metals and metal products that contact with food, National standard for food safety—paint and coating that contact with food, National standard for food safety—rubber and rubber products that contact with food and GB 5009.156 General rules for pretreatment methods on migration test of food contact materials and products, which concluded the review task. Except for GB 5009.156 as an amendment, other standards are standards for harmonisation.
