On 31 August 2015, 7 SVHCs proposed by ECHA, Germany, Austria and Sweden was passed the review and then entered into the period for public consultation, which ends on 15 October 2015.
The 7 substances are proposed to be listed in SVHC as their carcinogenic, bio-accumulative, toxic for reproduction or PBT characteristics. The SVHC List is likely to be increased to 170 substances (currently: 163) at the end of this year.
According to REACH Regulation, if SVHC is present in products in concentration that greater than 0.1% and the quantity for export is less than 1 tonne, downstream importers shall be notified with such information for communication and also provided with certifications. However, if SVHC is present in products in concentration that greater than 0.1% and the quantity for export is greater than 1 tonne, reporting of such information to ECHA is necessary.
C&K Testing hereby reminds exporters: if your products exported to the EU market contain SVHCs which reach certain concentration and quantity for export, you are obliged to communicate such information and report to the ECHA. Therefore, it is important for exporters (to EU market) to pay attention to SVHCs for prompt compliance. C&K Testing will keep focusing on SVHC to share the most recent news with you.
