Vietnam Releases New Regulation on Contents of Formaldehyde in Textiles

23 October 2017, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a circular No. 21/2017/TT-BCT to set a new standard on contents of formaldehyde and aromatic amines in textiles and at the same time abolished the circular No. 23/2016/TT-BCT.

According to the new regulation of No. 21/2017/TT-BCT:

The limit for aromatic amines derived from azo dye in all textile product is 30 mg/kg.

The regulation also exempts certain textiles, including foreign tourist belongings temporarily entering Vietnam, imported textiles for re-export, bonded warehouse goods, transhipment cargo, and un-dyed or unbleached textiles or fabrics.

The new regulation should be applied from 1 May 2018.
