Stockholm Convention intends to list three substances

The Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention has released a report on the work of its seventh meeting. The report shows 33 decisions are adopted in the conference including:

a. The listing of the following substances in Part I of Annex A to the Stockholm Convention:
hexachlorobutadiene;
pentachlorophenol and its salts and esters; and
polychlorinated naphthalenes.

b. Adjustment to the exemption, including:
There are no longer any exemption for the production and use of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride for carpets, leather and apparel, textiles and upholstery, paper and packaging, coatings and coating additives and rubber and plastics.

c. Adjustments to unintentional persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as DDT, PCBs, BDEs and PFOs, and to BAT, BET as well as POPs wastes.

However, the date of the official listing for the above POPs is still subject to the formal release of Secretariat of the Convention.
