RoHS 2.0 opens stakeholder consultation on two lead exemptions

The Öko-Institut launches a RoHS project (Pack 11), which deals with the evaluation of applications for granting, renewing or revoking exemptions, to be included in or deleted from Annexes III and IV of RoHS 2. The two exemptions have begun stakeholder consultation on 14 March 2016 and will run till 9 May 2016.

  • Less than 15 litre engines for professional non-road equipment designed for use where the time between a signal to start and full load is required to be less than 10 seconds, for example in emergency, standby generators and peak shaving generators
  • Less than 15 litre engines for professional non-road equipment designed for operation in harsh and dirty environments such as construction sites, quarries, mines, etc. for example, in drills, air compressors, rock crushers, irrigation pumps and tub grinders

The RoHS Directive of the European Union covers an extensive scope of products, including almost all of electronic and electrical equipment, medical devices, telecommunications equipment, toys and security information products. It not only include finished products, but also spare parts, raw materials and packaging intended for the production of the finished products, thus closely associated with the entire production chain.

C&K Testing reminds that the public consultation ends on 9 May. Businesses dealing with electrical and electronic equipment should pay close attention to the information and adapt their production plans to the amendments.
