Revision of Aluminium Migration Limits under Toy Safety Directive to be Formed

on 7 July, 2017, the European Commission and its Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion Tolerable intake of aluminium with regards to adapting the migration limits for aluminium in toys.

Early before, a tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 0.3 mg/kg bw/d is considered appropriated by the SCHEER for the calculation of migration limits for aluminium from toys and sources others than toys.

In November 2016, SCHEER had asked for reassessing current toxicology data of Aluminium, including the tolerable standards established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives. (Reported by C&K testing in November 2016)

It is said the final revision would carry out in this autumn. C&K Testing reminds companies keep attention to the latest progress on revision, and take preparation for adaption measures.
