[RASFF] Overview of RASFF FCM notifications in March 2016

The European Commission validated 242 RASFF notifications this month, including 215 notifications on food, accounting for 88.84%; 15 notifications on feed, accounting for 6.20%; 12 notifications on food contact materials (FCMs), accounting for 4.96%

The major hazards for the 12 notifications on FCMs are migration of hazardous substances such as formaldehyde, cadmium, manganese, aluminum, DEHP or too high level of overall migration.

From the products notified in January 2016, almost all notifications on food contact materials originated from China (11 notifications, accounting for 91.67%).



The notifications are classified as border rejection, alert, information for follow-up or attention according to the risk levels.
