Published: Author: Visits: 1246
The European Commission validated 257 RASFF notifications this month, including 226 notifications on food, accounting for 87.94%; 21 notifications on feed, accounting for 8.17%; 10 notifications on food contact materials (FCMs), accounting for 3.89%
The major hazards for the 10 notifications on FCMs are migration of hazardous substances such as formaldehyde, melamine, cadmium, lead, manganese, primary aromatic amines. One notification is validated as the products are unfit for FCMs.
Except for two recalls of unknown origins, other notifications all originated from China. The notifications cover salad servers, nitrile gloves, black nylon spaghetti spoon, gas barbecue, glasses, kitchen steel knives, spatula and plastic cutting board.
The measures adopted against the notifications are classified as border rejection, alert, information for follow-up or attention according to the risk levels.
C&K Testing hereby reminds FCMs-related enterprises to enhance the product quality by learning more about the reasons for notifications. Meanwhile, due attention should be paid if you are a Chinese manufacturer or you have a Chinese supplier for such products.
