Giorgio Armani (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. intends to recall some children’s wear under ARMANI JUNIOR by submission a recall scheme to General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ). The recall covers models CYT04/2S/10, CSK12/3U/K5, CZF05/6H/WA and CZF06/3U/64 (production batch: SS16, date of production: from June to Sept.). There are 48 units to be recalled within the territory of China based on statistics.
The products falling under the scope are to be recalled due to the presence of excessive levels of formaldehyde and high pH values, which does not comply with the Chinese national standard GB 18401-2010 National general safety technical code for textile products.
High pH values in garments may irritate human skin to cause erythema, wheal and itchiness. While free formaldehyde can be gradually released if dangerous levels of formaldehyde are present in garments, it poses a great hazard for diseases via respiratory tract, eye and skin contact.
Giorgio Armani (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. is going to publicise the scheme on its website in a few days. It will refund the products for consumers.
It is important to deal with differences in regulations and technical standards across the world. C&K advises importers should comply with national standards in China and voluntarily recall defective products.
