OHIO Bedding and Stuffed Toy Reporting Law amended

The Ohio Bedding and Stuffed Toy Reporting law has been amended to reduce the number of reports that a stuffed toy manufacturer must file with the Department of Commerce (DoC) Division of Industrial Compliance each year. The Toy Industry Association (TIA) advocated for this change over the past year to reduce paperwork burdens on toy companies and streamline reporting.
Beginning on October 1, 2013, manufacturers and importers will be required to file reports and associated fees for each stuffed toy or bedding item imported or manufactured in Ohio only once per year, instead of the current twice per year. The DoC will mail all annual report forms and renewal invoices, which must be completed and returned to the Department along with the associated fees for each item. All reporting periods will be 12 months following the date of the last reporting period.
TIA has planned an upcoming webinar in partnership with the Ohio Department of Commerce scheduled for Monday, September 9th at 2 p.m. (Eastern). The webinar will aid toy industry stakeholders with compliance and outline the transitional reporting period before the once-per-year annual report cycle comes into effect. Details about the webinar will be announced in the coming days.
