EU requires lower preservative MIT in cosmetic products

Pubdate : 2015-07-16 Source : Unknow Writer : CIRS
European Commission's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) requires lower concentration limit of the preservative methylisothiazolinone (MIT) in cosmetic products.

MIT is currently permitted in a concentration of up to 100 parts per million (ppm), according to the EU cosmetics Regulation. Last year SCCS obtained the opinion that the concentration limit should be lowered to 15 ppm.

The public comment period will end on 1 September.
