Chinese Bureau destroys unqualified imported food contact materials

Ji’nan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (“Bureau”) found three batches of food contact materials unqualified in hygiene item due to dangerous levels of heavy metals and evaporating residue. So it destroyed the said products.
 
According to knowledge, a batch of aluminized bread molds (total: 480 pieces, value: USD 2,198.4) were imported from South Korea. The test result showed the bread molds contained 439mg/L of evaporating residue (4% acetic acid) and 0.05mg/L of chromium, which were non-compliant with the limits (evaporating residue (4% acetic acid) ≤60mg/L, Cr≤0.01mg/L ) set forth in Hygienic Standard for Polyterafluorethylene Used as Inner Coating of Food Containers.
Another batch of “Lacena” aluminium alloy pots in perfluoroethylene coating with 3D effect (total: 100 pieces, value: USD 1,140.34) were also imported from South Korea. The test result showed the bread molds contained 124.5mg/L of evaporating residue (4% acetic acid), which also exceeded the limit.
In addition, there is also a batch of “INOMATA” spaghetti containers made of EVA (total: 32, value: 10,624 Yen) imported from Japan. Currently, there are no related Chinese national standards on food safety and the receiver cannot provide administrative acceptance documents of Health Department under the State Council.
The Bureau destroyed three batches of unqualified products as per related rules.
