On 28 July 2016, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has approved 425 industry standards including QB/T 2880-2016 children’s leather shoes which to apply on 1 January 2017.

QB/T 2880-2016 provides for terms, definitions, categories, test methods and other requirements for children’s leather shoes whose uppers are primarily made from natural, artificial and synthetic leather through specific procedures (such as gluing, seaming, moulding, vulcanizing, injection molding and perfusion) as set forth in the standard. In other words, the standard is applicable to general leather shoes for children and infants. Meanwhile, it also suits those textile uppers (of children’s footwear) manufactured with the same procedures.

QB/T 5004-2016 Footwear—Test Method for Buckles, Fasteners and Belts—Binding Strength also applies on 1 January 2017.

C&K Testing advises businesses shall conform to the new requirements as soon as possible by adjusting procedures or upgrading products to ensure normal production and sale in next year.
