Michigan bill seeks further heavy metal restrictions

January 16, 2013, the bill 17 was Introduced by Senator KAHN to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 5491 and 5492 (MCL 333.5491 and 333.5492), as added by 2007 PA 159. The bill has been referred to the Committee on Government.
Senate Bill 17 seeks to further restrict the use of cadmium, lead or mercury in consumer products intended for children age seven or younger, limiting the heavy metals to no more than 0.06% of the product's weight.
