The full name of the KC certification mark is "Korea Certification Mark", also known as the national unified certification mark of South Korea. It is a certification system implemented in accordance with South Korea's "Electrical Appliances and Household Appliances Safety Management Law", and the products involve electrical appliances, daily necessities and other products. In 2017, South Korea's KC certification ushered in a new system. The "Electrical Appliances Safety Management Law" and the "Quality Management and Industrial Product Safety Management Law" were integrated into the "Electrical Appliances and Daily Goods Safety Management Law". The safety management system of electrical appliances and daily necessities is divided into three categories: safety certification, safety confirmation, and supplier compliance confirmation, which will be implemented from January 28, 2017, and It was revised later, and the classification of "compliance with safety standards" was added for daily necessities, which will be implemented together on July 1, 2018.
Note: KC certification of children's products is still implemented in accordance with the "Special Act on the Safety of Children's Products".

1. Safety certification of electrical appliances and daily necessities
Korean manufacturers or Korean importers of products subject to safety certification should apply to the certification body for safety certification of various types of products in accordance with the decree of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy of Korea, conduct product testing according to safety standards to determine product compliance, and accept factory audits to confirm whether they continue to produce products subject to safety certification, and ensure the safety of products subject to safety certification before they leave the warehouse.
In order to confirm whether the enterprise continuously guarantees the safety of the products that have obtained the safety certification, it is required to conduct a regular audit every two years for the products subject to safety certification, production equipment, testing equipment and technical capabilities. Regular audits include factory audits and product testing. During the audit, one representative model of each certified product is selected for product testing.

When foreign manufacturers apply for safety certification and need to send test samples, they need to apply to the Korea Product Safety Association for a safety confirmation exemption confirmation letter to ensure the customs clearance of the samples.

45 days (the certification period will be extended when the product testing period exceeds 30 days)
2. Safety confirmation of electrical appliances and daily necessities
Korean manufacturers or Korean importers of products subject to safety confirmation shall apply to certification bodies or safety confirmation testing institutions for safety confirmation tests of various types of products, and apply for safety confirmation after confirming whether their products meet safety standards.
The Korean manufacturer or Korean importer that declares the safety confirmation of the product shall submit the safety confirmation application form and other application materials of each type of product to the certification body before the product leaves the warehouse or before customs clearance. Manufacturers outside Korea can entrust an agent in Korea to declare safety confirmation.

3. Supplier compliance confirmation of electrical appliances and daily necessities
For the products subject to supplier compliance confirmation, the Korean manufacturer or Korean importer of the product shall conduct product testing on each model of the product or entrust a third-party testing agency to test the product before the product leaves the warehouse or before customs clearance, and confirm that whether the product meets the safety standards by themselves, the manufacturer or importer should prepare the supplier compliance confirmation test report and the supplier compliance confirmation letter.
