Keep an eye on colour fastness and safety category labels for textiles!

There are 93 batches non-compliant industrial products as notified by Supervision Office under General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ). 58 of 93 batches are textile products primarily resulting from colour fastness and safety category labels.

It deserves special notice that colour fastness (16 batches) and lacking of safety category labels (30 batches) are the most frequently notified for compliance. Textiles shall be divided into three categories: Category A Infant and young children textiles, Category B Textiles come into direct contact with the skin and Category C Textiles not come into direct contact with the skin. In the meantime, safety category shall be indicated on the products and “infant products” shall be specified on textile products for infants.

It is important to deal with differences in regulations and technical standards across the world. C&K advises importers should comply with national standards in China and voluntarily recall defective products.
