Molecular weight and molecular weight distribution are the fundamental parameters of high molecular weight polymers. Many mechanical and physical properties of polymer materials, including tensile strength, flexibility, impact resistance, thermal and oxidative aging resistance, and corrosion resistance, are directly related to their molecular weight. Therefore, investigating the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polymer materials is one of the important tasks in evaluating material performance. Molecular weight determination has wide applications in material research and development, quality control, and failure analysis.
Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), abbreviated as GPC, utilizes the differential elution time of molecules of various sizes through a gel column to separate molecules of different molecular weights in high polymers. The intensity and elution time of each eluted component are measured using a refractive index detector. By comparing the elution time of unknown samples with the standard curve of known standard materials in terms of elution time and molecular weight, the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of each eluted component of the unknown sample can be determined.

Sample requirements
Sample state: It can be in the form of liquid, powder, or solid.
The sample should have good solubility in the specified mobile phase. For powder samples, a minimum of 50g is required, while for liquid samples, it should be between 50-100ml.
Scientific Detection (Hike Detection) possesses the CMA (China Metrology Accreditation) qualification that meets the above testing standards and criteria. We provide material molecular weight testing services to various enterprises and institutions for sales, research and development, legal purposes, scientific research papers, bidding processes, and industrial issue diagnosis.
