The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved the amendments on packaging safety regulation which reset limits for heavy metals in packaging on 18 November 2016.
The EEC packaging safety regulation set forth requirements for formaldehyde, acetone and other hazardous substances in packaging with test methods specified.
1. The new limits for four heavy metals are adjusted as below:

2. EEC member states agreed to remove 'outdated' safety standards from the 2012 Regulation and include more than 50 new ones. It says it will replace 24 more packaging safety standards in 2017.
Note: The EEC is the permanent regulatory body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).Currently there are five EEC countries: The Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
