EU RoHS updates the exemptions

On 16 June 2017, the European Commission official journal published three amending directives (EU)2017/1009, (EU)2017-1010, (EU)2017-1011. The exemptions in RoHS directive Annex III refer to lead in bearing and bushes for refrigerant-containing and refrigeration (HVACR) applications, cadmium and lead in glasses used for optical applications. These directives will take into force since the 20thday after official journal published and enforce formally on July 6, 2017. Erenow, the member states shall adopt the relevant legislations, regulations and laws.

As early as November 2016, the European commission notified WTO of the relevant revised draft. Please refer to EU notifies WTO of proposals on three exemptions for more details.

According to (EU)2017/1010,EU RoHS Annex III point 9(b) is replaced by the following:

9(b)-(I)

Lead in bearing shells and bushes for refrigerant-containing hermetic scroll compressors with a started electrical power input equal or below 9KW for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) applications

Applies to categories 1; expires on 21 July 2019.

Cadmium and lead in glazes used for reflectance

standards
