The European Commission has written to Cyprus and Estonia, urging them to explain how EU legislation on the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment is being enacted in their national laws.

If they fail to act within two months, the two cases may be referred to the EU Court of Justice, where financial penalties may be imposed.
