ECHA to propose restriction for decaBDE
Published: Author: Visits: 1162

ECHA will submit a restriction proposal for bis(pentabromophenyl) ether, commonly known as decaBDE, according to its registry of intentions.

The agency is proposing a restriction on the manufacture, use and placing on the market of decaBDE, and mixtures and articles containing it. The substance was part of the agency's consultation for authorisation prioritisation; however, ECHA decided a restriction was more appropriate after Norway proposed global control of the substance under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants .

The proposal is expected to be submitted on 1 August 2014.
