ECHA publishes draft CoRAP for 2016-2018

Helsinki, 28 October 2015 –ECHA has prepared a proposal to update the Community rolling action plan (CoRAP) for 2016-2018. The Member States intend to evaluate 138 substances including 53 new substances. The final plan is expected to be adopted in March 2016.

The 138 substances are allocated for evaluation during 2016, 2017 and 2018. The draft CoRAP includes the non-confidential substance names, CAS and EC numbers, the tentative year of evaluation, contact details of the proposed evaluating Member State as well as a brief indication of the initial area of concern. Of the 53 newly added substances, 15 are potential EDCs, some of which are used in many industrial applications, for instance: nonylphenol, branched, ethoxylated, formaldehyde, oligomeric reaction products with 1-chloro- 2,3-epoxypropane and phenol, vinyl acetate.

The Member States plan to discuss the draft in this week and prepare an opinion in February 2016. ECHA will adopt and publish the final CoRAP for 2016-2018 in March 2016.

ECHA suggests companies to register of the listed substances. After publishing of the final CoRAP update, the Member States will have a year to evaluate the designated substances of 2016 and can ask for further risk information if necessary.

It can be of vital influence for future trade with the Europe if those substances are included in SVHC list even the candidate list during the follow-up evaluation. C&K Testing reminds domestic businesses to deal with CoRAP and join Member States to evaluate the substances so as to know the follow-up risk for regulations as soon as possible and make prompt preparation.
