The four lead substances were also included in ECHA's previous draft recommendation in 2014 but were not included in the final recommendation that was sent to the Commission in July 2015. Comments that were submitted during the previous public consultation on the lead substances do not need to be re-submitted

The exemption period for the 11 new substances is 18 months. If these substances are included in the Authorisation List (Annex XIV of REACH), it can be placed on the market or used after a given date only if an authorisation is granted for a specific use. Companies can apply for authorisation.

Reminder: Substances on the Authorisation List will be gradually phased out on the EU market. At the same time, the entry of substances on the Authorisation List for a specific use is allowed only when an authorisation is granted after companies go through complicated and expensive procedures for application. In this case, Non-EU manufacturers have to reduce production volume or change the line of production. So companies should take proper measures to deal with it.
