DCHP is Identified as a Substance of Very High Concern

25 April, 2018, the Official Journal of the European Union released Directive (EC) No 2018/636, identified dicyclohexyl phthalate as a substance of very high concern. ECHA plan to add DCHP into list of SVHC, which shall take into effect on the date of formal accession to ECHA.

According to the Article 57(c) of REACH Regulation, dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP) has reproduction toxicity of category 1B under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, and it has endocrine disrupting properties with probable serious effects to human health according to Article 57(f) of REACH Regulation. Besides, the substance shall be included in the candidate list referred to in Article 59(1) of REACH Regulation with the following indication under ‘Reason for inclusion’: ‘Toxic for reproduction (Article 57(c)); endocrine disrupting properties (Article 57(f) - human health)’.

The substance DCHP is not yet included in the Candidate list. The date of inclusion will be that stated in the ECHA Executive Director's Decision, not the date of the publication of the Commission Decision. As DCHP will be a new addition, the date of inclusion will be in late June/early July, as it will be added to the list at the next scheduled update.
