[CPSC] Overview of CPSC notifications on recalls in May 2019

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls 22 batches of products in May 2019. There are 11 batches of Chinese products, accounting for 50%.

Based on our statistics, the Chinese products notified through the CPSC in May were as below:

2019-05-02	Name: electric generator Units : About 19000 Recall number : 19-744 Manufactured in : China	The carbon canisters of portable electric generators leak air, posing a fire hazard.	The firm has received nine reports of gas leaks from the carbon canister. No injuries have been reported.	Refund Repair
2019-05-09	Name: wireless charging pad Units : About 64000 Recall number : 19-118 Manufactured in : China	Wireless charging pad can overheat in use, posing a burn hazard.	Imagine Nation Books/Collective Goods has received 10 reports of the wireless charging pads overheating and causing minor damage to the surface of furniture or bedding. 2019-05-14	Name: Office Workstations Units : About 76,000 Recall number : 19-121 Manufactured in : China	A problem with the office workstations causes the gas canister to detach from the workbench and forcibly deflates, posing an injury hazard.	Knape & Vogt has received two reports of the gas cylinder separating from the workstation, in one case, the cylinder discharged from the unit resulting in damage to drywall in an office.	Repair

2019-05-21	Name: Portable Speakers Units : About 41,000 Recall number : 19-124 Manufactured in : China	The hydrogen in the megaphone's battery leaks when it is charged, causing the megaphone to burst, posing an explosion hazard.	Ion Audio has received five reports of speakers exploding including four incidents resulting in property damage to the surrounding area. No injuries have been reported.	Refund
2019-05-23	Name: Pineapple Corer & Slicers Units : About 2300 Recall number : 19-125 Manufactured in : China	The metal blade of a pineapple core-removing cutter can detach from the machine, posing a cutting hazard to consumers. 2019-05-23	Name: Ethos Pull-Up Assist Units : About 10000 Recall number : 19-127 Manufactured in : China	The plastic clip on the nylon mesh belt connected with the resistance belt of the lock buckle can break and form the harm of cutting. Fitness resistance bands are used for stretching.	The firm has received seven reports of equipment breaking, resulting in six lacerations. One incident required the consumer to receive stiches; another required the consumer to receive staples.	Refund

2019-05-29	Name: Charging Cables Units : About 90000 Recall number : 19-129 Manufactured in : China	When the metal around the USB charging cable comes into contact with the USB wall charger plug fork during charging, it will become electrified, causing electric shock and fire hazard.	Target has received 14 reports of the cables smoking, sparking or igniting, including two reports of consumer finger burns.	Refund

Accompanying remedies (refund, replacement and repair) are taken for such notifications.

As notified on the CPSC website, some customers have already got injured due to the potential hazards.
