Wenzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (Zhejiang Province, China) destroyed a child stroller imported from Italy as it lacked of China Compulsory Certification (3C) during daily inspection.

Pursuant to provisions of Chinese laws, child strollers can only be offered for sale and use in China when obtaining 3C certification. Officials found the child stroller had no 3C mark attached and also no 3C certificate was available. Pursuant to the provisions of Article 19 of Regulations for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Import and Export Commodity Inspection, Wenzhou Bureau supervised the destruction of the child stroller upon sufficient communication with the receiver in order to protect human health and safety of children and fulfil legal duties of the exit-entry inspection and quarantine authorities.

C&K Testing reminds businesses that the child strollers, electrical toys, plastic and rubber toys, metal toys, projectiles, plush toys and child restraint systems fall under the scope for 3C certification. In other words, the import of the aforesaid products shall comply with the requirements for 3C certification. Consumers shall check the packaging of imported toys for 3C mark, aging labels and warnings.
