China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission asks for comments on food safety standards

National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China issued G.W.B.S.P.H. [2015] No. 803 to ask for comments on 70 food safety standards and amendment to one standard on 29 September 2015. It ends on 31 October 2015.

The draft involves measurement methods for several food additives, microorganism and food contact materials and additional regulation on safety of food contact materials, metals, rubber, plastics, paint, etc. Besides, the amendment to National standard for food safety—food additives—nitrogen (GB 29202-2012) also asks for comments.

The drafts including 17 national standards for food safety on food contact materials and products as the following:

8National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for migration of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)benzene (draft)
9National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for concentration and migration of 1,3-butadiene (draft)
10National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for migration of 1-octene and tetrahydrofuran (draft)
11National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for concentration and migration of acrylonitrile monomer (draft)
12National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for migration of terephthalic acid (draft)
13National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for concentration of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (draft)
14National standard for food safety—food contact materials and products—determination for concentration of triethylamine and tributylamine (draft)

Reminder: It seems China attaches great importance to food industry, which reflects its rectification for related regulations. A series of food standards are seeking for comments signifying stricter regulation on the industry. Businesses shall learn about recent -news and conduct compliance testing and draft plans to adapt to new industrial standards.
