On 19 Sept. 2016, Nansha Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (Guangzhou, P.R. China) found dangerous levels of heavy metals and evaporities present in food contact products such as woks, frying pans and stockpots imported from South Korea. Inspection and Quarantine Authorities returned the non-compliant products in accordance with stipulations ofImplementation Rules on Law of Commodity Inspection of the P.R. China.
There are 8,900 food contact products (8 models) imported from South Korea. The test results showed 6 of 8 models of products were non-compliant as the concentration of chromium and evaporities exceeded the limit value.
C&K Testing advises businesses to attach great importance to the quality and safety of imported food contact products. The imported products falling short of national standard of China cannot be offered for sale in domestic China. C&K Testing advises importers should assess related risks and send products for testing, otherwise products will be returned or destroyed once fail to pass the test of competent departments.
