On 22 January 2016, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) released 2017 China Quality Supervision Catalogue of Key Industrial Products (“Catalogue”). It is noteworthy that the products listed in the catalogue are the focus of quality supervision in 2017.

The catalogue includes daily consumer products, building decoration materials, industrial production materials, agricultural production materials and food related products totalling 359 industrial products.

There are more than 20 industrial products listed in the catalogue compared with that in 2016, including much-talked floor mats, electric scooters, electric balancing cars, children phone watches. In particular, food contact cooking films, cooking bags, cooking boxes, melamine articles, and food processing machinery & equipment of which the metallic parts intended for food contact such as microtomes & doughmakers, metallic food contact stainless steel and heat insulation vessels are listed as key industrial goods. It is the right time for the transition of new and old food contact standards in China and the catalogue undoubtedly reflects intensified quality supervision. In 2017, daily consumer products are still the priority of quality supervision, involving textiles, apparel, footwear & hats, products for general use (including travel cases, stimulated food, disposable hygienic products), furniture, students’ articles, recreational gym equipment, infant and juvenile products, radio & video equipment, information technology equipment, electrical appliances for household or similar use, digital accessories, lighting & lighting equipment, gas appliances and telecommunication end equipment, etc.
