China passes review of five new food contact materials

On 22 July, National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic has published Notification No. 10 of Year 2016, which specifies that five new food contact materials have passed the safety assessment review in accordance with China Food Safety Law.
The substances are as below:
  • sulfamic acid
  • Methylmethacrylate-ethylacrylate-trimethylolpropanetrimethacrylate copolymer
  • Propanaminium, N,N,N-trimethyl-3-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-, chloride, homopolymer
  • Methylmethacrylate-methylacrylate copolymer
  • Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, oxiranylmethyl ester, polymer with chloroethene and ethenyl acetate

C&K Testing advises manufacturers of food contact materials shall be clear about the requirements, arrange production and testing. It is noted that imported food contact materials shall also comply with national standards in China.
