On 8 Aug. 2016, Lishui Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (Zhejiang Province, China) destroyed a batch of toys (1,305 units, value: USD 2,082.8) imported from South Korea as they fail to meet the new Chinese standards for toy safety GB 6675-2014.

These products are static plastic toys imported by a local foreign trade company from South Korea. Two of four series products still do not comply with new Chinese standards for toy safety GB 6675-2014 when the Authority requested rectification due to the plastic packaging film and sharp points of the toys. The Authority destroyed the non-compliant products as the importer was unable to make corresponding adjustment.

Generally, toys are considered as intimate friends of children and always are in direct contact with them. To product health and safety of children, China has implemented new toy safety series GB 6675-2014. The new standards pose higher requirements on toys on the China market by referring to ISO 8124 and other EU directives and standards.

C&K Testing reminds that importers should see the necessity of complying with mandatory standards in China to avoid losses.
