On April 27, 2025, the China Association of Fragrance, Flavour and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI) issued an announcement to further implement the relevant provisions of the Cosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulations and the Measures for Administration of Cosmetics Labeling, to facilitate the healthy development of international trade in cosmetics, and to better safeguard consumers' right to know and right to choose.
In collaboration with the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, and based on the relevant technical regulatory requirements, CAFFCI conducted a translation project for the Chinese-English correspondence of certain fragrance ingredients. A technical review meeting was organized, resulting in the formation of the Chinese-English Names Correspondence for Certain Fragrance Ingredients.
The Chinese-English Names Correspondence for Certain Fragrance Ingredients includes a total of 81 fragrance ingredients. The listed fragrance components are derived from Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1545. The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) of the European Union will continue to update these items, supplementing information such as CAS numbers and EC numbers. CAFFCI will continue to monitor regulatory developments in the EU and update this translation list accordingly.
*Note: The ingredients in italic were those fragrance components that were required to be labeled under EU cosmetic regulations prior to this regulatory update
