Canada amends 32 consumer products regulations

On 13 July 2016, Canada Gazette released a notification that Canada had made non-substantive administrative changes to 32 consumer products regulations that come under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). All the updates come into force since 22 June 2016.

Effective in 2011, theCanada Consumer Product Safety Act(CCPSA) replaced Part I and Schedule I to theHazardous Products Act(HPA).

Types of modifications that have been made to the covered consumer product regulations include:

l removing references to the HPA or 'hazardous products' in regulation titles;

l 'housekeeping' revisions, to modernise the regulations and update static references; and

l modifications to address concerns about inconsistencies between the English and French versions of certain regulations.
