On 24 June 2016, the California Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has issued a Safe Use Determination (SUD) for the use of diisononyl phthalate (DINP) in vinyl flooring products.

A vinyl flooring product containing 18.9% or less DINP by weight, is at or below the no significant risk level (NSRL) of 146 micrograms/day. But a warning for products meeting this DINP concentration limit would not be required for residents in buildings where these products are present.

The SUD applies to non-textile vinyl flooring products used in residential, commercial and institutional buildings. It was issued at the request of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI).

C&K Testing advises businesses to deal with due care.
