General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) has recently determined to prioritise disposable diapers, toys, garments for babies and young children, kitchenware and other six consumer products of common concern by issuing of Notification on Printing “QA Sword” Work Plan (“Notification”) in order to strengthen quality control and create a market environment with fair competition to guarantee the building of a modestly prosperous society.

The Notification identifies consumer products, vehicles and components, building materials, agricultural resources and livelihood measurement as the focus in China with five well-organised programs. Air purifiers, rice cookers, intelligent toilet seat cover, smart phones, disposable diapers, toys, garments for babies and young children, kitchenware, bedding and furniture are prioritised as focus in consumer products in the specific program.

It is easily to conclude that the quality of children’s products remain the highlights of AQSIQ in 2016. Based on our statistics (we are not held liable if any consistency with the official), AQSIQ published 142 batches of imported children’s products that not compliant with relevant standards. Garments for babies and young children and toys notifications rank the highest beyond toys, disposable diapers, child safety car seats, children’s food contact materials. AQSIQ will strengthen its supervision and inspection on imported children’s products on the market to ensure consumers’ safety.

C&K Testing reminds businesses that competent departments at all levels will strengthen supervision and review on the significant cases concerning 10 cases. At the same time, cracking down on counterfeit goods in the field of e-commerce is also a focus. Businesses and e-commerce platforms should attach importance to product testing to avoid punishment resulting from non-compliance of products.
