Annex III to Directive 2011/65/EU Amended to Exempt Cadmium in LEDs

31 October 2017, Directive (EU)2017/1975 in the Official Journal of the European Union was published to amend the EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex III. It exempted cadmium in color converting light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for use in display systems from 20 November 2017 till 31 October 2019.

Member States shall adopt and publish the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with this Directive and forthwith communicate the text of those provisions to the Commission. The provision should be applied from 21 November 2018. When Member States adopt those provisions, they shall contain a reference to this Directive or be accompanied by such a reference on the occasion of their official publication. Member States shall communicate to the Commission the text of the main provisions of national law which they adopt in the field covered by this Directive. This Directive shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Expires for all categories on 31 October 2019.
