Washington 16 March 2017, the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) released the 18th edition of the Restricted Substance List (RSL), the industry's chemical management resource for banned or restricted chemicals and substances in finished home textile, apparel, and footwear products around the world.

The 18th edition of the RSL covers 12 chemical categories with more than 250 chemicals and is updated to reflect additions or changes to regulations and laws that restrict or ban certain chemicals in apparel, footwear, and finished home textile products.

Compared with the previous edition, the major changes are made but the addition of substance (Benzo[a]pyrene, CAS No. 50-32-8) in Annex I.

It is noteworthy that the substance was included in the REACH SVHC List on 20 June 2016 (ECHA adds a new substance of very high concern to the Candidate List).

The ever-changing regulations around the globe make it hard for textile-related enterprises to follow up the latest requirements. However, the RSL helps businesses to obtain an overview of regulated substances and limits.

C&K Testing is at your service to do the hazardous substances testing for you.
